The Keep Calm-o-Matic Story

The Keep Calm and Carry On Poster
In the war, Britain's Ministry of Information created three posters with messages from King George Ⅳ to boost the nation's morale. The first two in the series were widely distributed but the third, the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster, was only to be published if England was invaded.

Wartime Posters
During World War Ⅱ posters were used by all countries to communicate to the public and were often used as propaganda for the Governments' political and military plans.

Rediscovery of the Poster
When the war ended the posters were pulped. 55 years later in 2000, Stuart and Mary Manley, owners of Barter Books, found one of the few surviving posters. They framed and hung it up on their wall and their customers loved it. The poster soon became famous.

The birth of Keep Calm-o-Matic
In 2009 Andrew built the Keep Calm-o-Matic in his bedroom when he wanted a Keep Calm poster of his own. He soon found other people enjoyed creating posters.

Our online store
In 2010 we wanted to create more ways for people to share their designs so we started to offer customisable products. We now have a production facility in England and are building a network of happy customers all around the world!
